👻 Happy Halloween 👻 UCA Film Production graduate Amy Clifford created 'Parasomnia' for her final year project. The film comes across as a horror, definitely one we might watch this Halloween! However, the film was actually a recreation of a sleep paralysis Amy experienced in 2018. Amy says "I wanted to express the emotions and terror felt and give the viewer the experience of going through a sleep paralysis first hand. Hence the unnerving and uncomfortable sounds and colours to create atmosphere and to trigger certain emotions. I experienced a lot of awful sleep paralysis' growing up, to the point that they would stop me from sleeping to avoid them happening again. When I would discuss them with people, I never felt as though I could explain the extremity of them. Almost that I was just telling them about a 'normal' bad dream, yet they were so much worse. I think it is hard to understand what it is like to have a sleep paralysis until you have experienced it and so I wanted to be able to give the viewer the experience to see that it's not just a bad dream!" Parasomnia is just one example of the amazing work that our Film Production students create.
