UCA's Dr Harry Whalley has worked alongside Mark Brill (Birmingham City University) and Dr Stuart Cunningham (Manchester Metropolitan University) on research which suggests that care providers should play music during the administration of COVID-19 vaccinations to reduce stress and anxiety among the elderly. The research, run in conjunction with Pendine Park Car Homes in Wales, found that using music during the procedure to be effective in reducing stress, particularly for those with dementia. Mark Brill, a senior lecturer in digital innovation, said: “Our research with care homes has shown how powerful music is in supporting people living with dementia, making care tasks easier, so it feels like a natural extension to use it during vaccinating”. #covid19insights #covid19research #covid #research #innovation #healthcare #publichealth #science #music #covid19news
