UCA BA (Hons) Fashion Design student Lidia Zakowska created this design development for her final collection.✨ Lidia's inspiration comes from her Polish heritage and Western cowboy culture. Lidia said “My final year collection is inspired by two juxtaposing themes which I relate to. Firstly, being Polish, I started exploring the traditional folk clothing from Poland, which pushed me to create my own lace and trimming samples inspired by the traditional pieces, but with a modern twist by using laser cutting techniques. However, my design aesthetic has always focused on utility details too; belts, studs, rivets and buckles make me fall in love with my designs. So, my collection is based on the feminine aspects of Polish folk clothing, as well as Western cowboy culture and Nudie Suits. I experimented with Nudie style embellishment, using studs instead of rhinestones and added faux leather and brown tones to my collection inspired by the cowboy imagery. The Western aspect adds the 'rough' touch to the quite feminine designs, which work well to create a fun, intricate and detailed collection, of two themes that seemingly are too different to harmonise.” Find out more about Fashion at UCA: https://bit.ly/2IBdh2w Instagram: @lidia_z.fashion #WeareUCA #MakersofUCA #fashion #bafashion #fashiondesignrochester #ucafashiondesign #fashiondesign #fashiondesigner #design #fashioncourse #fashionstudents
