UCA BA (Hons) Fashion Design student Nadiya Sharif. @nuxuria created this sketchbook for her research and design development 🎨 Nadiya said “The inspiration behind my graduate collection is my heritage and the importance of women in Somalia. From there I was inspired to look into my Journey from Kenya to Yemen. The softness of the draped garments from Somalia mixed with the structured tailored blazers from Yemen. I began to experiment with draping blazers over the body to create new shapes, I got some elements from Somalia and Kenya to create new prints using alcohol inks to show the softness and hardness of my concept. This collection has many elements such as the flower men from the Qahtan tribe and the Maasai tribe which will allow me to redefine modest fashion and to empower women. I am now doing more research into the map of Yemen and the culture to get more textured textiles using laser cutting and 3D printing” Find out more about fashion at UCA and sign up to the next virtual open day on the 28th January: http://bit.ly/2IBdh2w #WeareUCA #MakersofUCA #fashion #bafashion #TagYourTalent #GFW21 #wearegraduatefashion #fashiondesignrochester #ucafashiondesign #fashiondesign #fashiondesigner #design #fashioncourse #fashionstudents #art #creative #fashionstyle #fashiondaily #fashionpost #fashionable #fashionaddict #fashionista #fashionlover
