We are delighted that artist Yinka Ilori has been appointed to create a unique new public artwork at Kings Hill Village to work with UCA and our project partners Turner Contemporary, Liberty Property Trust, Kent County Council and Futurecity. Our specially assembled student atelier will be collaborating with Yinka and documenting the development of his artwork over the coming year. Ilori specialises in storytelling by fusing his British and Nigerian heritage to communicate new narratives in contemporary design. He said: “This is my first experience as an artist-in-residence, and it's super exciting to be able to connect with new people and new ideas. I am looking forward to learning new things, understanding new cultures and ways of thinking.” Our student atelier will reflect the wide range of specialist disciplines at UCA, form photography, architecture and fine art to fashion and interior design. They will create a rich and layered complement to Ilori’swork, including exhibitions, events and a publication, and will gain invaluable curatorial and production skills and knowledge along the way.
