In light of the government’s decision to close all pubs, restaurants, bars, clubs, theatres, leisure centres and gyms on Friday in response to the spread of COVID-19 , we have decided that we too, should follow suit, and close our workshops, libraries and canteens, and operate remotely, until further notice. These closures will begin from 5pm tomorrow, 24 March, allowing time for students to retrieve work and for workshops to be safely shut down. Accommodation remains open, as we want to help our students, who might not have an alternative place to live, continue to live safely and securely. Our remaining operations will run remotely. We are in the process of updating our student FAQ pages (www.uca.ac.uk/alerts) in line with this latest development and hope to have it populated with all the information you’ll need by the time we close tomorrow. This is a decision we’ve taken with a heavy heart. We wish we could have continued with our plan of online teaching and limited workshop learning but we had to think of the health and safety of our students and staff. We hope our students stay safe and exercise the proper social distancing advice outlined by government. Together, by doing this, we can flatten the curve and, hopefully, re-open sooner.
